Ordered for my Chihuahua/Dachshund mix; he is 12 pounds. We had originally ordered a Small based on the size chart, however when it arrived it did not cover his entire length. We returned the Small and ordered a Medium, which fits him perfectly. If you have a Dachsund purebred or mix, please take this into account if/when ordering or considering your options.That aside, this item definitely does what it says it does. Our dog has had hair loss issues over the years, resulting in the loss of his overcoat on the back half of his body, so during the winter months a waterproof jacket is definitely required for him. The outer shell does not allow rain or snow to soak through, the zipper closure on the back works very well for a harness (or even the collar D-ring to poke through) to attach a leash properly, and the fleece interior lining works very well to insulate and keep him warm. The zipper itself has a rubber lining on the outside, to provide maximum water repellant function in spite of a leash being in use. It also serves to allow the tags to be displayed without having to dig into the neck area to reference them, should your pup run off on you somehow while wearing this.The feature I appreciate most about this item is that putting it on and taking it off is much easier than standard pet clothing. The head hole slips over the head, and the part covering the chest hangs loose while doing so. The fact you buckle it into place independently is a wonderful feature for dogs with joint issues or senior dogs, given that you do not need to guide their front legs into holes, potentially causing them pain or discomfort. This feature alone makes this item worth purchasing due to comfort for your pup, and ease of use for you.The price point for this item is also a benefit when compared to similar items, based on what you get for your money.
